Mixmag and BUDX are proud to partner on a groundbreaking new Lab destination touching down this summer: Lab Johannesburg.

On Wednesday, July 24, The Lab Johannesburg welcomes DJ Tira, Maphorisa, Moonchild Sanelly and DJ to the decks for a special GQOM takeover.

DJ Tira, real name Mthokozisi Khathi, has been a Durban staple since 1995. He won the Smirnoff South Africa DJ Knockout competition two years in a row, in 2000 and 2001, and was awarded a trip to Ibiza. Since then, he's been recognized as one of the leading forces of dance music in the African continent, after founding the record label Afrotainment. DJ Tira will be headlining the night, bringing his distinct sound to The Lab.

Maphorisa, otherwise known as Themba Sekowe, is a leading dance music producer in South Africa. His acclaim began in 2013, after his single release 'Y-Tjukutja', which topped the charts that year and catapulted his career into stardom. Maphorisa collaborated with Major Lazer in 2017, to release 'Particula' which has received millions of plays on various streaming channels. His style includes various genres, from gqom to afro-pop and house.

Moonchild Sanelly and DJ Vitoto will perform together on opening duties.

BUDX is a global platform that supports and spotlights outstanding creative minds in music and culture from around the world.
