With 10 years experience working within São Paulo's vibrant nightlife scene, it's safe to say that label, party and DJ quartet Gop Tun know their stuff when it comes to Brazil's illustrious sonic offering. Self-described free spirits Gop Tun - aka Bruno Protti (Tyv), Caio Taborda (Caio T), Fernando Nascii (Nascii) and Gui Scott - have taken their unique brand of dancefloor euphoria and in-depth knowledge of music around the world — from Rock In Rio to Primavera Sound, and are set to make their third appearance at Dekmantel festival this weekend.

Ahead of their appearance, the four have compiled a list of Brazilian musical gems — from the past, now and forever; with tracks from Taciana, Diogo Strauzs, Detran Boys and more. Enjoy!

Jorge Ben Jor 'Mama Africa'

Recorded in 89 in São Paulo with the Nigerian musician King Sunny Adé to honor the South African singer Miriam Makeba, also known as ''mama Africa''

Rita Lee 'Baila Comigo'

We lost this year one of the most popular Brazilian singers, Rita Lee. Baila Comigo was made from a dream she had, the melody and lyrics came from it and she says it came from an indigenous entity.

Taciana 'Tudo faz sentido' (Suba extended remix)

Suba was a Serbian musician that collaborated with many Brazilian artists. He tragically died in his studio in São Paulo when it caught fire.

Emilson Batuel 'Dancem'

This is a pretty rare record that was lost in time for many years. Funny fact: when the record was ready, the label obligated Emilson to produce and add a last track to the album, and this one was exactly the one included, our favourite

Lincoln Olivetti 'Suspira'

Lincoln Olivetti’s never officially released track, that will come to light by Selva Discos.

Fernanda Abreu 'Katia Flavia'

This track was released when Brazil left the dictatorship period, and subjects like sex became more common in the lyrics of Brazilian music.

Fausto Fawcett 'Cicciolina' (Extended Erotic House Mix)

This track was made to honor the legendary pornstar Cicciolina, and the remix was made by the also legendary DJ Grego, from Brazil.

Jorge Ben Jor 'Norma Jean' (extended house mix)

An extended house version of Norma Jean, produced in 86 by Ricardo Guedes, a legendary Brazilian DJ

Diogo Strauzs 'Flight of Sagittarius'

Diogo is a very talented musician from Brazil’s new generation and he made this brilliant track sampling the iconic Azymuth’s Jazz Carnival.

Detran Boys 'Dicas de Trânsito'

Gabriel Guerra and Lucas de Paiva are behind 40%Foda/Maneiríssimo, a label from Rio that releases amazing Brazilian electronic music. Each of their albums comes with a different alias and Detran Boys are one of our favourites.
