Listen back to some of Mixmag's classic Labs with Apple Music

Come through!

To celebrate the reopening of the Mixmag Lab this month, we've teamed up with Apple Music to curate a playlist that features some of our classic Labs from the club in the corner of our office's 10-year history.

We've had the opportunity to host some of the biggest names in electronic music from our Labs all over the world - from Miami to Mumbai, New York to Ibiza - consistently featuring the best talent, the best sound and the best vibes.

Check out our picks of classic Mixmag Labs Below:

Disclosure at the Lab London, 2012

Disclosure pulled up to our world-famous office party in 2012 (!!) before brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence hit mega-stardom, there was still a floating jaeger bottle in front of the decks and HD cameras were just a twinkle in Mr Canon's eye. Alas, this mix has truly stood the test of time with listeners to this day revisiting their bassline-heavy, loungey house selections.

FLAVA D at the Lab London, 2017

A supreme example of how to turn a just-finished-work crowd from 0 to 100 as quickly as possible. Flava D had no right to get the party started this thoroughly back at our Lab in 2017 - tonnes of bassline, classic garage bangers and the odd piano house melody for good measure.

Goldie at the Lab London, 2017

Look, they say don't meet your heroes - but inviting your heroes to your office to play some drum 'n' bass? that's ok, right? For the Lab's Metalheadz takeover in 2017, Goldie graced our decks alongside Ulterior Motive for an unforgettable deep-dive into intricate basslines and harsh, punctuating breaks.

Hot Since 82 at the Lab Ibiza, 2017

Hot Since 82's ability to take any evening rooftop and make it his own is an unparalleled talent, so when the king of the sundowner made an appearance on ours in Ibiza it was guaranteed to boot off - the perfect combination of floaty tech-house and disco for a warm Balaeric night.

Jamie Jones at the Lab Paris, 2019

The darker, underground setting of our Parisian Lab in the winter seemed to mellow out the Welsh DJ - who showcased a set full of old school 4/4 flavour and grooving house in one of our last Labs before the pandemic. The French crowd provided vibes as ever, ensuring there was nary a phone in sight.

Kelly Lee Owens at the Lab London, 2020

The Lab had to change during the pandemic - forced to say goodbye to our crowd, we made sure to keep up an eclectic selection of DJs to perform on our live streams - Kelly Lee Owens was a prime example of this. A tasty mix of hybrid techno sound and therapeutic trance was a sublime way to celebrate the Mixmag faithful watching from home.

Marco Faraone at the Lab Mumbai, 2019

Bringing Italian techno to Mumbai? completed it mate. Marco Faraone's Lab in India's biggest city was a particular treat with the Barcelona-based drum don slamming out his own productions (including That Bicep 'Glue' edit) during a BUDX party highlighting the very best Indian artists and culture.

Rudimental at the Lab London, 2020

A testament to the joy a lab can bring the artists taking part is Rudimental's set in our London Lab in 2020. Members DJ Locksmith and Piers Agget let loose with a beautiful blend of UKG and soulful house, bouncing together in unison. Impossible not to smile as they mix Janet Jackson 'Together Again' into 'Plastikhaus'. Heartwarming stuff folks.

Scuba, Effy & Bakongo at the Lab London, 2020

Hotflush's takeover of our London Lab in 2020 was something to behold, with label boss Scuba bringing with him the excellent Effy and Bakongo - all three presenting very different, yet coordinating sounds to the office. Scuba dived head-first into some punchy house rhythms, while Bakongo (AKA Roska) delivered a masterclass in funky, all finished off with Effy's combination of swish and slam. A whole club night in one Lab - yes, please.

Martinez Brothers at the Lab Miami, 2017

What would a list of classic Lab's be without The Martinez Brothers. The US duo has played at our offices in the UK and US on four separate occasions, so it's difficult to choose just one to make the cut. Their Lab in Miami was a particular highlight, tropical tech-house paired with old fashioned groove and some disco classics on a windy Floridian rooftop? OK then.

Martinez Brothers at The Lab New York City, 2018

So yeah, when we said we were having a tough time picking just one - well we meant it. So Steven and Chris have got another spot on in our classic Labs - but we can't let up an opportunity to call attention to the way in which the Brothers pulled out all the stops for their Thanksgiving Eve special in our Lab New York. A darker, techier vibe to match a darker and more underground venue - listening to this one isn't advised if you're prone to FOMO, trust us.
