The DJ and producer celebrates local talents and the launch of new compilation EP ‘Gudu & Friends’
Happy year of the Rabbit! To celebrate, Peggy Gou’s label, Gudu, launched its debut compilation series which is set to become a yearly release. The eight-track EP, ‘Gudu & Friends Vol. 1’, features various artists such as, DMX Krew, Mogwaa, Hiver, Dukwa and Brain de Palma. Also adding to the project are the South Korean Gudu newbees Salamanda on ‘Mockingbird’ and Closet Yi on ‘Sonder’.
From working as a librarian and resident DJ at Hyundai Card Music Library in Seoul, Closet Yi gained an extensive knowledge of her home city's multi-faceted electronic scene. Since then, she has gone off to become an international success. This year, she was signed to Gou’s Gudu and asked to contribute to the EP. Speaking on this she explained: “I was very happy to put out this track through Gudu because it's a happy track that I thought will go along well with the label's vibe. Sometimes you just need a progressive, euphoric, easy track that makes you wanna go out in the sun, and that's the feeling of how I made this track last summer and I'm glad that I could share my energy with these artists and friends.”
