On Wednesday, June 12, The Lab Johannesburg invites South African talent Shimza and his fellow countryman Kid Fonque to take over our brand new dance space in the City of Gold.
Having been one of the leaders of house music in Africa for over a decade, Shimza is now making global waves with forthcoming release on Cadenza Records and Knee Deep In Sound. In 2009, he launched his philanthropic One Man Show in Soweto, South Africa to raise funds for underprivileged children. The event draws in over 25,000 people each year and has featured the likes of Black Coffee, Black Motion and more. Then in 2013, Shimza was signed to Black Coffee's acclaimed Soulistic Music record label. He went on to release his
Kid Fonque has become a vital part of South African electronic music and club culture over the past 20 years. Throughout his career he has helped nurture a plethora of South African artists through his role as label manager of Africa’s seminal dance label Soul Candi Records and now his new label Stay True Sounds.
