umru b2b TAAHLIAH ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ on NTS
Rounding out the year with a whallop, PC Music alum umru and Kilmarnock-born hitmaker TAAHLIAH do what they do best — serve up a heavy helping of experimentally-inclined pop-meets-club to get the (Christmas) party started. You know you’re onto a winner when the first blend is a doomy mash-up of KAVARI’s ‘2010010’ into certified 2024 dancefloor banger ‘Godspeed >’ from Verraco, and it only gets more full throttle, more vibey and more demented from there. Benga and Coki’s ‘Night’ mixed into Evian Christ’s ‘Selfie’ Chainsmokers edit, Kelis ‘Milkshake’ tailing off into KI/KI’s ‘5 Mins Of Acid’; the SLAY bells are ringing for this one.
Touching Bass w/ Sammseed on NTS
South London’s Sammseed coasted smoothly into the dead cold of December earlier this month with his warming new mix for NTS. Taking over Touching Bass’ regular monthly slot on the station, Sammseed traverses gorgeous, honeyed dub and soulful jazz across two hours. Grab those blankets and get cosy for this one.
Miley Serious on The Lot Radio
Ending the year with a treat, Miley Serious lets loose on this fiery mix at The Lot Radio. Jumping around from some old skool Dusky to Azealia Banks and then back to some deep, raw dubstep, this hour set is packed with all the energy you need to warm yourself up this winter, so get listening.
livwutang ‘Live from Dimensions’
To dust off the winter chills, Croatian knees-up Dimensions Festival released 27 mixes from the festival on a single December day. There’s a lot of highlight moments to tuck into, from Vass’ two hours of deep and trippy madness to Dea’s dancefloor liftoff at the Olive Grove. But a standout comes from NYC’s livwutang, who consistently shows that she’s a curator of some of the most sublime dance music on the planet at the moment, with 110 minutes of dusty, dark house, rolling techno and dubby grooves.
