Charli xcx ft. Shygirl '365' (Atlantic)

When we first heard Charli xcx’s exultant salute to the bender upon the release of ‘brat’ this summer, it was difficult to imagine that any other track would be able to reach its verve in capturing the recklessness and euphoria of a big girly night of hedonism. But this month, as ‘brat’’s remix album hit streaming services, it became clear there could be some competition. This remix of ‘365’ takes the cocaine-fuelled freneticism of the original and turns it up 365 degrees, with EASYFUN inserting a blistering fidget house-infused bassline and a fiery, grinding kick — while Shygirl brings her trademark sex appeal on a verse asking: “Are you gonna ride me? Harder than a BPM, beat match me.” With even more chaos, more pill references, one hundred times more “Partygirls”? We can only assume this ‘365’ is destined for a leap year.

Paula Tape 'Acid Latino (Sonido Real)' (Future Classic)

As a verified expert in all things groove and acid, even the first track title of Chilean-born DJ and producer Paula Tape’s upcoming EP has rightfully sent the hearts aflutter of any house fan worth their salt. So, as a perfect showcase of what we can expect from the record ahead of its debut this November, lead single ‘Acid Latino (Sonido Real)’ features a scattering array of hats alongside the instantly recognisable ‘Bilongo’-inspired piano progression at its centre — in both a loving nod to Tape’s heritage and a tongue-in-cheek juxtaposition between classic dancefloor rhythm and new school club-destined edge.

Objekt ‘Chicken Garaage’ (Kapsela)

As the second release on his newly-minted Kapsela imprint, Objekt’s new single ‘Chicken Garaage’ is a self-portrait in sonic form — dithering through references to his past, present and future as a producer with nods to dubstep, UK techno and breaks, with even the title consisting of a playful nod to the producer’s birth country of Japan. Objekt’s ability to create fun-yet-discerning club music is on full display here, with a naughty bass riff bouncing and colliding against an array of smooth synths and ricocheting percussion. Is this it? Are bangers back?

Kassie Krut ‘Reckless’ (Firetalk)

Former members of Philadelphia math rock band Palm, Eve Alpert and Kasra Kurt, are on a new tip. They make that explicit with the first single from the Kassie Krut project, also comprising producer Matt Anderegg, which chants the lyrics: “If you ask me who I wanna be / Im’a spell it out so it’s plain to see / K-A-S-S-I-E K-R-U-T-T-T-T.” It’s an addictive industrial pop banger that packs hefty bass, and feels almost like a brainwashing attempt to lock listeners into the new sound, with the repeated eponymous messaging in the words and music video. It’s got us hooked.

Scruz ‘Need It’ (Self-released)

Pure serotonin in a song, Scruz brightens up the descent to winter with this sugary, sunny dance banger. It’s powered by shimmery synths, a foot-tapping bassline, ecstatic strings, and angelic vocals that are relatable in their messaging: Just what we needed.

Mk.gee ‘Rockman’ (R&R)

Look away modular synth fanatics, the artwork to Mk.gee’s new single ‘ROCKMAN’ features a gun taking aim at one of the wire-covered instruments. But fans of more classic musical approaches, lock in. Mk.gee’s masterful guitar playing and difficult-to-decipher angelic vocal croons have been on heavy rotation this year. His latest single is another The Police-esque anthem that folds pop and R&B verve, as well as his playful sense of fun, into its rock stylings.

Megan Thee Stallion ‘Bigger In Texas’ (Hot Girl Productions)

Megan Thee Stallion’s new deluxe edition album ‘MEGAN: ACT II’ dropped at the tail-end of this month with the flawless ‘Bigger In Texas’ as the lead single. The Houston rapper has dealt with a lot of bullshit recently, to put it lightly, but on this track she’s keen to move on. Repping home turf and her roots, including a video featuring Houston hip hop icons Paul Wall, Scarface, Slim Thug, Sauce Walka and Paul Wall, Megan is in standout form. “Shut up and enjoy this music,” she raps in a direct but smooth flow, on a gorgeous beat produced by Bankroll Got It, Shawn “Source” Jarrett, Truckee Street & Han Yang Kingsley.

dreamcastmoe ‘Next 2 Me’ (Ghostly International)

dreamcastmoe returns with a heartfelt slow jam that oozes soul – perhaps a sign of the artist’s dedication to writing songs that speak to “real lived experiences”. Linking up for the second time with NEIL FRANCES, following the success of 2022’s ‘She’s Just the Type of Girl’, dreamcastmoe provides his signature bluesy vocals over a searing synth-led melody that is so infectious you’ll have to press replay. This is the perfect song to wrap yourself up in during the winter months.

musclecars ‘We Found The Sun!’ (Faith Beat)

Having released their debut album ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea’ earlier this year, musclecars were enlisted by Detroit DJ Ryan Eliott to produce a single for his upcoming compilation album ‘Have Faith’. The resulting ‘We Found The Sun!’ is a gorgeous example of the New York duo’s ability to combine delicacy with drive, creating something that sits perfectly between the two, as muscelcars float a masterful, jazzy piano above a weighty kick drum and ceaseless synths. Coming November 15, the rest of the 34-track collaborative album will feature appearances from Marcel Dettmann, Juana, Evan Baggs, AceMo, and many more.

Or:la, Eliza Rose ‘Slay The Beast’ (fabric Originals)

Fueled by the ethereal swirling sounds of Or:la’s technical skills, this new release is a blend of raw drums and echoes. Meanwhile, Eliza Rose takes a step back from her usual high-energy, pop-centric vocals and instead brings in a spoken word piece of poetry which is utterly captivating.

BABii ‘Tra$$$her’ (Boxset Recordings)

Raucous club energy from the go, BABii’s ‘Tra$$$her’ is a track of two halves — frantic bass energy dissolves into choppy 2-step with breathy yet obliterating vocals from BABii, and additional production from Nottingham’s Pholo.
