At just 21 years old, Kagiso-born superproducer Yumbs has got off to a flying start with his career. His credentials stack up when you look back at his last few years, from producing tracks for some of the most booked-up DJs in amapiano to releasing his multi-platinum album ‘Ivy League’ in 2021, hosting a show on BBC Radio 1 Xtra, and rubbing shoulders with the who’s who of South African dance music.

Recently tipped off by Major League Djz when selecting the next best artists emerging out of South Africa and giving him a nod for his “versatile” style, Yumbs is stacking up to be one of the most exciting producers in a pool of talented artists, pummelling out a regular spread of new music while giving a helping hand to the big stars of today, and turning heads at his recent debut at London's 15,000-capacity warehouse venue DRUMSHEDS for Piano People's monster end-of-year event.

To mark the release of his latest track 'Siyzihlobo' featuring Fakewell, Scotts Maphuma, and Mellow & Sleazy, Yumbs puts together a playlist of his current amapiano earworms that he’s got on rotation. Check them out below.

Yumbs 'PIKI PIKI'

Making this song was this so fun - infusing amapiano beats with the playful Boondocks sample added a fun twist. The song has become a crowd favourite in the vibrant music scenes of the UK and Nigeria.

Ch’cco 'Pele Pele'

This track emerged as a massive hit, especially riding the wave of TikTok with everyone doing the famous dance.

Sfarzo Rtee 'Washa'

A powerhouse dance instrumental, 'Washa' has solidified its place as a go-to party starter in South Africa. Its energetic beats make for a lively atmosphere wherever it's played.

Pabi Cooper 'Dali Wam'

One of my favourite songs, it's perfect for more relaxed settings with friends, blending a happy vibe with the melody of private school piano.

Yumbs 'Ncono Majita'

This song is actually about me! I was in the studios with some of my friends, Justin99 and Pcee, just messing around. We made this song, it's a vibe and fun representation of my friendship with Justin99, Pcee, and Uncle Vinny.

Focalistic 'Khekheleza'

A TikTok sensation, the dance, the beat, everything - and like a lot of Foca's songs, it's just so infectious in the best way possible!

Major League Djz 'All Night Long'

I produced this one too, a real feel-good vibe alongside Major League DJz. We kinda broke some rules within the piano sound by having the song in English, which you don't really see, and the way the song came together. We tried to find a gap in the amapiano scene that we could create, and we did!

DBN Gogo 'SAdesFakshen'

A guaranteed crowd-pleaser, 'SAdesFakshen' has the power to get the audience up and moving. I also really love DBN Gogo as a DJ!

Mellow & Sleazy 'Imnandi Lento'

This crowd favourite has become a huge hit in South Africa with its melody causing the crowd to jump every time the song drops. You really feel it in your chest when you're singing the lyrics.

KAMO Mphela 'Dali'

'Dali' is such a fun song which has literally exploded all over socials. I actually saw this song come to life - we were all in the studio when Kamo made this track, and it's now everywhere!

Yumbs' latest track, 'Siyzihlobo' featuring Fakewell, Scotts Maphuma, and Mellow & Sleazy, is out now. Buy it here.
