ABSL returns to Mama told ya to share horror-inspired LP

ABSL has released LP 'It's just a bad dream' via Anetha's growing imprint Mama told ya.

The record consists of 10 meandering, woozy techno tracks, one of which is a collaboration with labelhead Anetha, with the tunes spread across two vinyls.

Cryptic, moody and ambient in nature, ABSL tunes into the darker spectrums of techno soundscapes on the record. Of note is the opening titular track, psychedelic in nature, and the flipside's collaborative number with Anetha 'Boa dormant' which employs spine tingling vocals above a trippy techno background.

"I’ve always been fascinated by horror stories and nightmares," ABSL explains. "I spend a lot of time watching horror movies, playing horror games… With this LP, I’ve decided to explore this genre.

"I’ve used atonal music to create a tenacious tension through all the album and I’ve processed animal screams multiple times to create some freaky synths or basslines."

With a love for textured industrial sounds, ABSL enjoys traversing BPM across his work, having released his first EP in 2016 and his first on Mama told ya following three years later. Having worked closely with the label and Anetha ever since, 'It's just a bad dream' marks his third contribution to the imprint.
