Ben Verse issues update following cancer diagnosis: “They finally let me out of hospital”
The drum ‘n’ bass MC has spent more than 200 days in hospital after being diagnosed with acute monoblastic leukemia

Drum ‘n’ bass MC Ben Verse has issued an update about his ongoing health issues after being diagnosed with acute monoblastic leukemia in 2024.
In a video shared on Instagram yesterday, February 17, the former Pendulum member explained that he had been discharged from hospital after more than 200 days.
“They finally let me out of hospital 208 days later,” he explained. “I’m feeling pretty beat down, but it’s nice to be home.”
In December, Ben Verse – real name Benjamin Mount – revealed that he had suffered a series of health issues last year. A fundraiser was launched to support his medical bills.
Ben was first hospitalised in August 2024 with suspected tuberculosis, which was later discovered to be a “rapidly-growing, antibiotic evasive/resistant” superbug which formed an abscess in his lung.
Ben was rushed to hospital and placed in an induced coma where he remained for six weeks under trial of different antibiotics. He suffered sepsis, bleeding, a haematoma, and a heart attack, his family explained.
After recovering, Ben left the ICU unit, but was diagnosed with acute leukemia just three weeks later which resulted in “immediate need for chemotherapy in various forms”.
In an update posted yesterday, Ben explained: “Tomorrow, the nurses are going to come to my house and I’ll start 21 days of chemo injections, which I’m hoping will be the last chemo that I have to have.”
“If I can get the all clear, I can get on with my life. I just wanted to say that it means a hell of a lot, everyone who’s messaged me and continues to message me every day,” he said.
He continued: “Anyone who has donated has made a massive difference, and I can’t thank you enough from me and my family. I love you all.”
