House and techno legend Carl Cox has announced he will be playing special headline show at Egypt’s Great Pyramids of Giza on May 19.

Posting the news on Instagram, Cox wrote: “MAY 19th, 2023. EGYPT. THE GREAT PYRAMIDS OF GIZA. OH YES!!!!”

His headline show will be supported by Philipp Straub and Gawdat.

The Great Pyramids are the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which were estimated to have been built between 2550BC and 2490BC, some 4500 years ago, with The Great Pyramid standing as the tallest manmade structure on Earth for over 3,800 years.

Last year, Cox released his first full-length studio album in over a decade with ‘Electronic Generations’, which he told Mixmag that he recorded most of it in an hour and a half.

He also said that he was moving away from just focusing on DJing, but also on live sets and hybrid DJ and live sets. He said: “I think swimming around in the DJ pool of what’s going on at the moment, I find myself in the middle of being the godfather of all DJs, in the middle of all the 19/20-year-old DJs that are coming through the ranks, and they all respect me very much because without me opening the doors there would be no them.

“But the thing about it is, I think now I’ve got to let that go and let the DJs coming through the ranks be the people who they believe should be, while I go off and now follow my quest as a live performing artist,” he continued.
