El-B drops surprise collaborative track with Burial from 2009

Earlier today, dubstep pioneer El-B released a collaborative track with Burial on Bandcamp dating back to 2009.

The five-minute track, titled ’Prophecy’, came simply captioned: “Made In 2009 - Straight From Nu-Levels”, on El-B’s Bandcamp page following the release of his recent anniversary package.

After the track first landed on compilation record ‘Nu-Levels’ in 2010 from El-B and J Da Flex, it was subsequently removed from streaming platforms and remained in the vaults until earlier today. Bootlegged copies appeared online, but with no official release from either El-B or Burial.

The original compilation also featured tracks from Zed Bias, DJ Narrows and Chimpo, amongst others, and was first released in 2010 alongside a launch party at London’s fabric.

“All [of us] at Ghost were just so sick of strong 12” releases and a constant stream of weak dubstep albums with two good tracks,” El-B told Fact Magazine in 2010 ahead of the compilation’s release.

Now 14 years later, ‘Prophecy’ sees its official re-release following the launch of El-B’s new Patreon service, announced earlier this month.

On January 13, the dubstep and garage producer announced the release of ‘Ghost Vol. 1’, a new sample pack to celebrate 20 years of the imprint that he first launched in the ‘00s.

The release is said to be the first of “many sample packs to come”, containing 70 “classic sounds” from Ghost Recordings over the years.

The pack is only available for those who subscribe to El-B’s new Patreon platform, where they can gain access to production tutorials, exclusive tracks, Q&As, behind the scenes access, and more.
