The workshop, titled Start From Scratch, will run in celebration of Black History Month
Radio presenter Esi has teamed up with fabric and Pioneer DJ to launch a workshop in celebration of Black History Month, Start From Scratch.
The event will go ahead on Wednesday, October 18, at fabric in London, and is completely free to take part in.
Start From Scratch is designed for aspiring DJs looking to get a foot in the door and learn new skills, encouraging Black artists and those from underrepresented communities to get involved.

The workshop will be hosted by KISS Fresh Breakfast presenter Esi as she shares her own story, insight into the industry, and guidance on DJing. “I'm really excited to be a part of this for Pioneer DJ and Black History Month,” she said on the project.
“I loved being able to take part at the last session, meeting everyone who wanted to take their passion with music and DJing seriously.”
Esi, who champions Black music on her shows across radio stations including No Signal, BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, and KISS, will also give insight into using Pioneer DJ equipment with a two-hour hands-on course. All participants will also receive a free 3-month licence to the online educational platform Virtuoso.

Start From Scratch is one of over 50 free events run by Pioneer DJ across Europe in celebration of Black History Month, supporting emerging talent from underrepresented communities.
“Pioneer DJ recognises both the undeniable influence of Black DJs throughout the years and a real need for more diversity in the electronic music industry today,” says William Dinsdale, EMEA Channel Marketing Manager.
“It is our responsibility to provide the tools and platforms for DJs of all communities to thrive, and from this Start From Scratch was born. We can’t wait to meet some aspiring DJs and to see where Start From Scratch takes them.”
