Frank Ocean announces new Apple Music radio show 'Homer Radio'

Frank Ocean is launching a new weekly radio show on Apple Music 1, Homer Radio.

The show, scheduled to go ahead every Thursday at 10:PM (ET), has been described by the two-time GRAMMY winner as "a one hour window" into the music played "after-hours" at his Homer brand HQ in New York City.

The show's first guest is Paris-based, Ivorian/Guadeloupean DJ and producer CRYSTALLMESS.

Though many of the details of the new show are being kept under wraps, some of music featured in the first episodes comes from a wide array of artists — including Dolly Parton, Beenie Man, Nazar, OSSX, Mogwaa and Mr. Ho, and many more.

In a description of Homer Radio, Ocean described the office environment from which the show's concept was born: "Twin towering line array speakers hold court. Someone’s vacuuming the carpets adding a distant layer of white noise to the sound."

"Media volleys across short distances quickly on the net as Sorkin-like walk and talks travel down the hallways further and further from the sound." he continues. "This is Homer Radio. An office soundtrack. Can’t you hear our ‘voice’? It’s not a dead line.”'

The show is Ocean's second on Apple Music 1, having launched Blonded Radio in 2017, it became a long-running favourite for fans, with a fictionalised version even being created as an in-game station for GTA V and GTA Online.

The most recent episode of Blonded was broadcast on Apple Music in December 2021.
