Pickle Factory set to relaunch in collaboration with GALA festival

London’s GALA festival and nightclub The Pickle Factory have announced they will be collaborating to redevelop the East London club into “Pickle 2.0”.

This long-term redevelopment of the club is said to begin this week with plans to change the interior of the club including an expansion that will make room for a second dancefloor.

As well as the structural changes, the press release points out that with the management of GALA, the nightclub will also be “diversifying its events offering”.

This week the changes start with a new team of security at the club, a new DJ booth and a paint job before it runs its all-night-long event on Friday with Prosumer and Gideön.

Larger renovations are also being discussed subject to planning and licence applications but in summer the soundsystem is to be improved, a new bar will be installed and more changes made.

Once all the changes have been made, an official launch party will be held at “Pickle 2.0” towards the end of the year.

Along with more diverse acts, the program will also host early evening events, offering talks, workshops and listening sessions.

GALA co-founder Jonny Edwards says: “It's a great honour to be the new custodian of The Pickle Factory, a club which already has so much cultural equity, community and its own space in the London scene.

“It's no secret these types of spaces are finding it increasingly difficult to forge successful futures. It's our job to provide the support Pickle needs not only to survive but to grow into one of London's—and Europe’s—most cherished spaces.”

Toby Wareham, who has booked The Pickle Factory for over seven years, says: “I'm so excited to work together with GALA to finally realise the full potential of the venue. Ever since we began working together last year, it's become clear that we share the same values, and the same vision for what a party in London should be.”
