Gorillaz release new single ‘Baby Queen’

Gorillaz have released a new single ‘Baby Queen’ from their upcoming album ‘Cracker Island’.

You may have already heard this new track from its preview on the FIFA ‘23 soundtrack that came out in September.

Frontman Damon Albarn found the inspiration for this track from a 1997 Blur concert which saw a Thai princess stagedive he recalls to the LA Times.

He said: “‘Song 2’ started and she stood on her throne and stage-dived into the crowd.

“The reason I’ve written a song about it is because I had a dream about this princess very recently; she’d grown up and we spent time in my dream together, her as a woman.”

‘Baby Queen’ is a slow-paced, cinematic track paired with the echoing vocals of Albarn singing “in my dreams”.
