Jamie Roy’s ‘Organ Belta’ tops Beatport chart a week after his death

Scottish DJ and producer Jamie Roy's ‘Organ Belta’ has topped the Beatport house chart, just a week after his death.

Released on Patrick Topping's label Trick in 2021, Roy’s family and friends have successfully encouraged people to get the track to that number one spot with a campaign.

Big names have also gotten involved by playing Roy’s track such as Jess Bays, Leftwing : Kody, Michael Bibi, Richy Ahmed and others.

Jamie’s last Instagram post which was only days before his death celebrates the one-year birthday ‘Organ Belta' with the caption: “Well Organ Belta is one year old next week! Just had a look and it’s at number 37 and still in the house charts 51 weeks later mental jumping 24 places since yesterday. I’m also 46th biggest selling house artist thank you all.”

All proceeds from the track will now be donated to the late DJ's family.

The tragic news of his death was confirmed on September 21 with his family’s statement reading: “Jamie was a much loved and talented son, brother, nephew and uncle and loved by his many friends and colleagues both within the music industry and beyond that. We are all absolutely heartbroken."

Roy was becoming an in-demand DJ on the Ibiza circuit but started off his career in the underground scene of Glasgow yet went on to play at iconic events such as Palm Tree festival in Croatia, DC-10 with Patrick Topping and Albania’s Unum festival.

His lastset was at Amnesia on August 29 alongside Gorgon City, Sonny Fodera, DJ EZ, Huxley, Danny Howard, Ango Tamarin, Jodie Harsh and Mark Knight.
