Jamie xx drops remix of Oliver Sim’s ‘GMT’

The rework includes a sample of Brian Wilson's 'Smile' alongside production from Floating Points

Jamie xx drops remix of Oliver Sim’s ‘GMT’

Oliver Sim’s ‘GMT’ has been remixed by fellow The xx member, Jamie xx.

Sim’s ‘GMT’ came out last month and will be featured in his debut album ‘Hideous Bastard’ out September 9 produced by Jamie xx via Young.

Sim’s solo album also includes the singles ‘Romance With a Memory’, ‘Fruit’, and vocals from Jimmy Somerville in ‘Hideous’.

This remix is the first in five years for Jamie and sees him use a sample of Brian Wilson‘s ‘Smile’ as well as incorporated production from Floating Points.

Previous remixes from Jamie have been for giants including Radiohead, Adele, Four Tet and Florence and The Machine whilst his last was back in 2017 when he reworked The xx’s ‘On Hold’.

Earlier this year, Jamie released his own single ‘Let’s Do It Again’ which he is now on tour playing alongside the ‘GMT’ remix.

On Friday, Jamie will be playing at Lost Village Festival as well as continuing his tour around the UK and Europe until he ends it in the US.

Sim’s forthcoming album has been inspired by horror films and will also soundtrack the a new queer horror short film titled Hideous starring Sim and directed by Yann Gonzalez.

Jimmy Somerville, drag queen Bimini Bon Boulash and Jamie xx will also feature in the film that will stream exclusively on MUBI from September 8.
