KG returns with sensual and powerful single 'Taboo'

Karen Nyame KG has returned following her 2021 EP 'Sensei II' with her latest single, 'Taboo'.

A powerful statement, it blends elements of Amapiano, Afro house and Afrobeat with KG's own vocals and signature percussive sounds.

It aligns with her trademark redesigned sonic identity of emotive melodies and fusing of UK club music with sounds rooted in her Ghanaian heritage, with the artist having been in the scene for over a decade making her mark across diasporic and electronic spheres.

"’Taboo’ is a sensuous, Afro groove-inspired, mystical take on forbidden love, I veer towards it anyways despite opposition," explains KG. "This is me being me. A celebration of existing loudly.”

Available on Bristol's Black Acre Records, there's also an acapella and instrumental version of the track to boot to act as ideal DJ tools.

To celebrate the single's release, KG will host her curated party 'Rhythm City on September 9 at East London's Night Tales Loft. It's dubbed a "night for the grown and sexy", where KG will be joined by Hagan and Gina Jeanz spinning deep, grooving afro-house, polyrhythms and soulful house with an open-minded and inclusive policy.

2021's 'Sensei II' marked KG's long-awaited return to the dance music sphere, embracing her desired essence of 'back home' to be infused throughout, with collaborations with names including Aymos, Toya Delazy, Taliwhoah and Mista Silva.

It satisfied fans of her UK Funky days whilst heralding the new era KG finds herself in now, covering topics including the empowerment of women, love, sexuality, desire, high vibrations and partying.

'Taboo' follows on from this, continuing KG's evolution as an artist, with her "biggest project to date" still in the pipeline and yet to be announced.
