KUKII, FKA Lafawndah, shares first single under new alias
Out now on Honey Colony Production, ‘Rare Baby’ precedes the Egyptian-Iranian artist’s forthcoming debut EP as KUKII
KUKII, FKA Lafawndah, has shared the first single to her forthcoming EP, set for release February 20, 2025, via her own imprint Honey Colony Production.
First teased on A COLORS SHOW, ‘Rare Baby’ is influenced by the artist’s Egyptian-Iranian heritage.
It marks KUKII’s first release under her new alias, having officially changed her name in June this year.
Announcing the news at the time via Instagram, she said: “Call her by her new name. KUKII. The new adventure starts here.”

The recently launched project will see the singer and producer working on music inspired by Mahraganat, a popular electronic genre in Cairo that has been experiencing backlash from the Egyptian government.
A second single is set to be released January 6, 2025.

As Lafawndah, the Paris-based musician was known for her experimental pop style, producing records for labels such as Warp, !K7 and Latency.
'The Fifth Season', her last album as Lafawndah, was released in 2020. She also featured on a compilation album complied by the Berlin Atonal imprint that year.
