LCY explores conformity and societal boundaries on new EP ‘/Y\’

LCY has released a brand new EP on SZNS7N titled ‘/Y\’, featuring six new club cuts across a 16-minute record.

The record landed on the producer’s own label on Wednesday, January 18, honing in on themes of protection, conformity and safety continuing the world-building themes of their previous projects.

‘/Y\’ is the first project under LCY’s expanded ‘Sacrum’ series exploring societal boundaries in religion, gender, and sexuality, all through a self-proclaimed “fantasy narrative”.

“The written story and imagery of ‘/Y\’ is my re-conceptualisation of the genesis story, using 90s/00s webpages to reference an early place of childhood refuge,” LCY explains on the project.

“‘/Y\’ is made up of vocals, breaks and rave stabs for calm nostalgia (‘Cherubim’ / ‘0nly 0ne’) contrasted by the EPs broken and more destructive later half reflective of the inner turmoil of the main character.”

The six-tracker is LCY’s first full-length release since 2021’s ‘Pulling Teeth’, a dystopian six-track release created around a post-human AI universe.
