Leeds DJ and producer Nick Hannam has died
“A true Leeds talent, and one of the pioneers who helped shape UK jackin', house & bass”

Leeds-hailing DJ and producer Nick Hannam has passed away, music platform Certified Jackin has confirmed.
In a statement shared on Facebook yesterday, April 29, the UK-based house music platform confirmed the artist’s untimely passing, writing: “Today we pay tribute to Nick Hannam”.
Hannam was described by Certified Jackin as a “true Leeds talent, and one of the pioneers who helped shape UK jackin', house & bass”, with a sound that was “infectious and unmistakable”.
“His early productions were a huge part of the original Certified Jackin channel, inspiring a new wave of producers and DJs up and down the country,” they wrote.
Nick Hannam began producing music in the early ‘10s, and quickly honed in on a specific house-focused sound that combined groove, funk, and jackin’ house.
“He crafted club anthems like ‘Serious’, ‘Love You Girl’ and ‘I Like To F*ck’, with a style that blended pure northern energy with groove-heavy basslines and crisp, catchy vocals. That original ‘Jackin’’ sound,” said Certified Jackin.
“Nick didn’t just make tracks – he made memories. His music soundtracked countless nights out, countless moments, and left a mark on a whole generation of ravers.”
In 2016, Hannam linked up with rapper and producer Tom Zanetti to co-produce ‘You Want Me’, which went platinum in the UK and quickly made its way into the UK Top 40, also charting in Belgium.
In a tribute to the late producer, Tom Zanetti called Hannam a “beautiful soul” who "always knew the answers".
He wrote: “I’m heartbroken to announce the man who helped me build the song ‘You Want Me’ brick by brick in a little bedroom studio in Leeds, a song you all know and love which is randomly going super viral at the moment - Nick Hannam has passed away.”
