Man caught at Ibiza airport with 163,000 ecstasy pills in his luggage
The 22-year-old was said to have slipped through Dutch customs with two full suitcases

A 22-year old Dutch man was recently arrested at Ibiza airport after attempting to smuggle over 160,000 ecstasy pills onto the island in his luggage.
The bright pink pills – which were not concealed in any way – were packaged in clear plastic bags and placed inside two suitcases, filling each to the brim.
The man, who had somehow slipped through customs in The Netherlands, was intercepted by police officers after arriving at Ibiza airport, Periódico de Ibiza reports. Authorities became suspicious after seeing the man travelling alone, carrying two large, heavy suitcases.

Around 50kg worth of pills were discovered – an estimated 163,000 pills in total. The majority were thought to be ecstasy, though some were labelled as 2CB.
The street value of the pills is estimated to be anywhere between €1.3 million and €3 million if sold at a price of €8 to €18, the average sale range on the White Island (per RTL News).
RTL reported that the man could land anywhere between three and six years in prison, but noted that the sentence could be increased to a maximum of nine years if it’s discovered that he was working as part of a larger drug trafficking group.
