Manuka Honey shares new EP 'Machete / 777'

Manuka Honey has shared her latest body of work, 'Machete/777', via Manchester-based Club Romantico.

The two-tracker marks her debut release on the label, owned by Florentino, and also the label's first release of 2023.

Born out of a breakup, the record intends to capture feelings of revenge and rage of women in the context of both the breakup and the retribution, with Manuka Honey reclaiming the tropes of Latina women being sexualised and vilified as aggressive throughout.

"It’s a reflection on revenge and protection," she explains. "The ways they go hand in hand, and how catharsis can manifest sonically. Rage is the haunting yet clear emotion that ties these tracks together."

Both tracks are collaborative - 'Machete' a linkup with Florentino in which Manuka Honey uses her own voice - and '777' a teamup with La Favi.

"What an honour to collaborate with two of my favourite artists on this one", she wrote on her Instagram. "I'm so excited to finally share these tracks with the world - one revenge anthem, and one break-up ballad."
