Mother and aunt of Birmingham nightclub murderer charged with assisting an offender

Two women have been charged with assisting an offender in relation to the murder of Cody Fisher (pictured) at Birmingham nightclub CRANE on Boxing Day, 2022.

Jahzeen Carpenter, 39, and Nadine Taylor, 44, the mother and aunt respectively of convicted murderer Kami Carpenter are alleged to have helped the 22-year-old avoid arrest in the days following the fatal dancefloor stabbing.

The two women from Dudley, who are sisters, were charged before magistrates on Tuesday, September 10, and released on bail, with an appearance before Wolverhampton Crown Court set for October 8.

Fisher, who was a non-league footballer and school sports coach, was attacked with a zombie knife by a group of masked men and pronounced dead at the scene.

Kami Carpenter and Remy Gordon, 23, were found guilty of the murder of Cody Fisher at Birmingham Crown Court in March. A third suspect Reegan Anderson, 19, was found not guilty of murder but guilty of affray.

Earlier this year, Birmingham's Nighttime Economy Ambassador Lyle Bignon spoke on the safety of the city following the arrests of both men. "The nighttime economy community in Birmingham is pleased to see convictions for the murder of Cody Fisher," he said.

"Our thoughts remain with Cody’s family and friends throughout this difficult time. Even before the tragic incident which led to Cody’s murder, our clubs and late-night venues across Birmingham and the Midlands have been working hard for years to put the safety of the public first."
