New app makes you prove “you’re a fan” in order to buy gig tickets

A new app is requiring users to "prove" they are fans in order to get tickets to gigs — along with other experiences and rewards.

Fave uses a Fan Verification system to understand how invested a user is to an artist, by asking potential buyers to provide everything from their streaming activities, merch collection, fan art, previous concert attendance — and even their craziest fan story.

By ranking fans users can go from an "Ordinary Fan" to a "Verified Fan" up to a "Verified Superfan" with each rank being displayed on their profiles page.

Each time a user moves up to different ranks they unlock a new perk provided by the artists or brand partners which can include concert tickets, the chance to attend listening parties and more.

Fans of Doja Cat, BTS, Bad Bunny and CARAT are already on the app.

"On Fave, top-fan status and access to exclusive experiences are not just reserved to the people who can afford it or got lucky in some random giveaway - neither of those correlates to how passionate and deserving of a fan you are," says Fave founder and CEO Jacquelle Amankonah Horton in a statement.

The app also describes itself as a "safe, centralized platform for fandoms" as well as a "powerful tool for artists looking to closely communicate and reward their most loyal followers"
