Pioneer DJ announces new four-channel high-end mixer, DJM-A9

Pioneer DJ has released a brand new four-channel mixer, the DJM-A9, aimed at DJs and clubs.

Valued at RRP £2,469 (€2,780), it is seen as the successor the DJM 900NX2, with upgrades to the sound quality, EQ, effects, microphone section and Beat FX.

It comes fitted with a new ESS Technology 32-bit A/D converter for the channel inputs and 32-bit D/A converters for both the booth and master outputs – meaning the same sound quality in the booth as on the dancefloor.

There is greater spacing between the EQ knobs, to allow DJs more control and flexibility when mixing, as well as a brand new Sound Color FX Center Lock feature (which can be turned on and off), which will prevent DJs from accidentally going the other way when bringing the effects knob back to center.

The DJM-A9 will also be compatible with upcoming Pioneer DJ technology Stagehand, an iPad app that will allow front of house teams and sound engineers to have greater control over sound levels, to get the best out of systems without having to enter the DJ booth.

It will also be compatible with Pioneer DJ’s rekordbox system, as well as Serato DVS for DJ’s to connect control tone vinyl systems.

For those looking at the more entry-level, low cost end of the scale, in November Pioneer DJ launched a new two-channel controller, the DDJ-FLX4.

As an update on the classic controller, the DDJ-400, it added streaming integration, which allowed DJs to import their libraries from Soundcloud Go+, TIDAL, Beatport and Beatsource via rekordbox, to be used by DJs for mixing.
