Posthumous Avicii track released, ‘Forever Yours - Tim’s 2016 Ibiza Version’
The late DJ and producer played the track during his last ever performance at Ushuaïa Ibiza

A posthumous Avicii track has been released almost a decade after the late DJ and producer performed it at his final ever show.
‘Forever Yours - Tim’s 2016 Ibiza Version’ landed today, February 14, via Interscope Records and Pophouse, with permission from the Avicii Estate.
The posthumous track’s release came in response to “fan’s reactions” online, and follows a recent Netflix documentary around the life and legacy of Avicii alongside footage from his final performance at Ushuaïa Ibiza in 2016.
‘Forever Yours’, which features vocals from Swedish singer-songwriter Sandro Cavazza, can be heard in the documentary, as well as a follow-up concert film released in December.
A behind-the-scenes video of the track’s creation also landed today, showing footage of Avicii in the studio, performing the track in the desert, and his final performance in Ibiza.
Though the posthumous single release was approved by Avicii's estate, moral uncertainty around the release of new music from the late producer has long been debated. After his death, rumours circulated that a bank of unreleased songs could make it onto a posthumous LP.
Both Carl Falk and Nicky Romero revealed that they were each in possession of unreleased music from Avicii, with Romero claiming: "I don’t know if it morally feels right to me to work on songs that the original composer has not approved."
In December, a documentary film around the life of Avicii was released on Netflix. I’m Tim told the story of his expansive career, featuring some never-before-seen footage. The documentary – directed by Swedish journalist and director Henrik Burman – landed more than six years after his death in 2018.
“This is the unlikely story of Tim Bergling, a shy and insecure boy who, without realising it, suddenly created one of the world's most loved artists - Avicii,” read the film’s synopsis.
