SHERELLE releases surprise debut album 'WITH A VENGEANCE'

SHERELLE has surprise-released her debut album 'WITH A VENGEANCE' via Method 808.

The London-born DJ, producer and label head announced the release of the 10-track project on Instagram today (April 9), writing "SURPRISE! NEW MUSIC. NEW ALBUM."

According to SHERELLE, 'WITH A VENGEANCE' was created across last year as she split her time between London and Amsterdam, inspired by a turbulent time in her personal life and a need for "uptempo catharsis."

“I’m super happy to have finally reached the point of releasing this album,” says SHERELLE. “It’s great to overcome lots of negative thoughts and energy, and transform it into something cathartic and positive."

"Behind the scenes I’ve had a tough few years but finally feel like I'm in a good place mentally and personally thanks to this album and all the lovely people around me," she continues. "WAV has been my soundboard of last year and I hope that people can feel the raw energy that comes from this album.”

SHERELLE had teased the lead single from the project, 'FREAKY', yesterday (April 8); the juke-meets-bounce track features vocals from George Riley and premiered during Nick Grimshaw's BBC Radio 6 show this morning.

“When I first made the ‘FREAKY’ instrumental, I was extremely confused but knew there was something different about this song,” explains SHERELLE. “I’m super grateful to George as once I played it to her, she gave me the belief that the instrumental was strong enough to make a banger."

"It took her 15 minutes to change my mind about the track. I’ve never had so much fun in a session before!," she continues. "We only had an hour with each other but it’s turned into a beautiful lifelong memory between friends and we now have a beautiful song out of it. Forever grateful for her support throughout making it and adding the much-needed touch to this song.”

“Always love getting in the studio with SHERELLE to have a little cackle and a catch up,” adds Riley. “This particular day we’d finally started working but nothing was really sticking.

"We had about 10 minutes to go and SHERELLE played me the instrumental for what would become ‘FREAKY’. It was already such a vibe and almost like magic the bisexual anthem was born," she continues.

This weekend (April 11) SHERELLE is scheduled to take over London's The Roundhouse with her SHERELLELAND show, a series of parties that offers cost of living crisis-friendly tickets for £10. You can buy yours here.
