Travis Scott's phone is at the bottom of the ocean, claims lawyer amidst Astroworld trial

Travis Scott's lawyer, Steve Brody, told the court that no information from the LA-based rapper's phone could be used in the Astroworld trial as it was sitting at the bottom of the ocean.

Scott faced a civil disposition lasting over eight hours on September 18, relating to the hundreds of lawsuits that have been filed after the Astroworld tragedy in 2021 where the crowd were crushed and 10 people were killed.

Rolling Stone has reported that attorneys that represent the plaintiffs had requested information from the phones of the eight-time GRAMMY nominee, his entity Global Inc and Cactus Jack employees through an emergency motion, but this information has yet to be produced.

The attorneys have cited that earlier in the case, Scott and XX Global Inc had previously refused to impart information from their phones on different grounds, stating that the request was "seeking confidential and/or sensitive information" and that the disclosure of said documents was "unreasonably cumulative or duplicative of other of the requests."

Ted Anastasiou, a representative for the Houston-born artist, rebuked any notion that either Scott or his team were obstructing the case, stating that they had "nothing to hide and are cooperating with all ongoing civil legal proceedings."

In a back and forth, reflecting a combative court procedure, Scott's team point the finger at the plaintiffs' team, referring to the late provision of documents and rescheduled depositions as an indication of their lack of cooperation. In response, the plaintiffs' team recognised that while some of their conduct may have been difficult, they had at least provided documents while "Travis Scott and his team stand apart in as having not produced a single text, WeChat communication, video or photo from their phones – not because they don't exist – but because his attorneys chose not to image or search their phones the order to do so by the court."
