This past October, Mixmag and AKG invited Grammy-Award winning hip hop and trap producer, Zaytoven, to a secluded studio in the enchanting desertlands of Joshua Tree for a wholly unique artist retreat.
Spotlighting his musical journey up to this point and giving him the means to collaborate with a team of top-notch contemporary artists, Zaytoven took to the studio to show us how his creative process unfolds. Well versed in piano and church organ, he demonstrates how his gospel music leanings have directly influenced his masterful hip hop productions. With hit songs for the likes of Usher, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Drake, Travis Scott, Migos and more under his belt, Zaytoven pulls out his musical toolkit and shows us how to make an award-winning beat.
